Irish Ayes Bassing 5-16-10
« on: May 16, 2010, 06:46:26 PM »
Today's crew consisted of Vinnie, his G/F Liz, Johnny Oz and Andy. We headed north out of Shark River checking for bait/birds as we travelled. Saw none and no marks on the screen.

Pulled up short of the Shrewbury Rocks and put the trolling lines out. Trolled around and around and found more nothings. The ocean was loaded with nothing when we were there. Many, many boats trolling every which way. Insane traffic.

Talked to Captain Jerry who told me that he had bait south of my inlet. Off we raced.

Found some bunker close to the beach and the snag hooks came out. Put a dozen in the well before the boat traffic got to be unbearable.

Moved off and found some decent marks in 50 feet of water. Sent the bunkers down and had some up top. Vinnie picked up two nice bass and Oz and Andy missed several. Started running low on livies and went back to the beach to pocket some more bunker. Put several dozen in the well in a short period of time and went back on the prowl for the bass.

Travelled all the way to SR inlet and found some great marks about a mile off the inlet. Bunkers went over the side again and picked four more bass with two being just under the thirty pound mark (27 & 29 on my uncertified digital scale).

Jerry, thanks for the intel.

Some pics from the day.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
