Irish Ayes Bassing 6-4-10
« on: June 04, 2010, 09:59:54 PM »
Had BobG, Naked Ed, Johnny5 & Dave on board today. Left the dock at 2 in the afternoon to hunt for bunker and then bass.

Made a right out of the inlet (thanks for the info Paul) and found some bunker off of Spring Lake. The bunker were very skitish today. Could only get one or two out of a school before they sounded and were then no where to be found. We did find enough pods to snag thirteen bunker (thanks to Eddie Hunter2 for the clicker, we were able to keep track of the bunker ;D)

Having a hard time putting bait together and not wanting to spend all of our time looking we went to my favorite bass spot and put our bait out. Dave hooked up almost immediately and Johnny5 wasn't far behind with a hook up.

We boated seven bass up to thirty one pounds and lost several that pulled the hook and also had some runoffs without getting a hook into the bass. Half the bass chased the bunker to the surface and bashed them there.

Depthfinder moments before a double hook up.

Ran out of bait and with everyone looking for bunker we decided to call it quits early.

Saw a big school of bass crashing the surface about an eighth of a mile from us. Was going to run to them but several boats along with a party boat had the same idea. We stayed put and hooked up. Appeared the boats spooked the fish when they got there, did not see anyone hook up on the school.

Got back to the dock and had to boat and fish cleaned just as darkness started setting in.

The boat that ran up on the rocks was being dismantled (as in, cut apart) by TowBoatUS as we were heading out. When we were coming in all that was left was the very bottom of the boat. Many pieces of the boat were floating around the ocean.  :P

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Nice goin Joe!!!! I was out with Jerry, thanks for callin us in, too bad we were a little late.

Jerry gave it his all though, we were out until 10pm in search mode. Ran from your spot all the way down to seaside.

They were funny last night, picking up the bunker and then spitting it quick. I had 3 runoffs and couldnt set the hook.  rgmn
