Cock Robin- Weekend Recap
« on: June 06, 2010, 09:06:35 PM »
Friday had Captain Jim looking for signs of BASS and bunker when he discovered BLUEFISH  within sight of home base!! With a new game plan, the crew aboard enjoyed a day of jigging BLUES. No size to these snappers to cocktails, but a welcomed break from the stress of bassing.

Friday night we were ready to head offshore for BLUES, unfortunately a lack of participation kept us between the sticks.

Saturday dawned bright and sunny and the BLUES met us at the inlet, right in the inlet!! Drifting within easy casting distance of the jetty, the nice crowd aboard enjoyed BLUEFISH jigging as a warm up for things to come.

Pointing the bow east, Captain Jim headed to the BLUEFISH grounds. BLUES to 10lbs were waiting to take baited hooks!!! Not a mad dog bite, but all-day steady enough that all anglers went into the catching mode.

Saturday night we again lit up and put the welcome mat out. Again a lack of participation kept us on the bench for what proved to be a good night of bluefishing.

Sunday a choppy swell and sw wind created havoc with the seas and many anglers stomachs.....heading back out to the bluefish grounds, Captain Jim put us on the hook and half the crew jigged while the other half played out baits. With only one BLUEFISH for the efforts, we re-thought the strategy and a small move put us on a rolling drift. Again, jigs and bait were presented and our reward was a single blue....what to do....MOVE.

With some feeling not so well, Capt Jim went "up-town" and no sooner were we tight to the hook, MAYHEM broke out. Jigs all around and the BLUES were bitin!! Young regular Artie used his impressive angling skills, recognized the fish were deep and dropped way down to lead the way!!
With many more becoming a bit green around the gills so to speak, Captain Jim hit the horn 3x's and away we went. Not blitzing bluefish action, but enough to remind us why we love the BLUES!!

Sounds like you made out well with the blues  t^ t^
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
