changed my mind on the mOcean guys getting a used  lamiglass XS10MHS off SOL instead. Now I have to find a reel, was thinking about the bait runner but will this still throw lure/plugs decently? Also mono or braid, never tried braid... Will be throwing alot of chunks and hopefully plugs eventually.Any input?

Okay now your starting to narrow your choices down to my neck of the woods.  Yhe Baitrunner that would match up with that rod nicely would be the BTR8000D Your rod is rated for up to 40# test line by putting braid on the capacity would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 295 yards. 

You might want to check out the Penn Slammer live line 560 it is very close to the Shimano in every respect but for some reason I am a Penn guy.  I have a few Penn reels I use in the surf and the 2 are the Penn Slammer (360 and the 560)  with out the live line feature.  The less features on the reel the less that could go wrong, plus if it needs repair it will run you a lot less in repair costs.

My 10' Tica rod has the Penn Slammer 560 on it with 40# Power Pro and it is a dream to cast and retrieve decent size fish off the surf.  Just a simple wash after every outing and your good to go the whole season.

As far as mono vs braid I would go braid all the way.  It is a smaller diameter to weight ratio and you can fit more line on the reel.  It for the most part has no memory so it is flat coming off the spool and slick.  This feature alone will give you that extra distance you might need to get out to the outer bar.

I hope this has helped as both reels are very much the same it will be a hard choice on your part.  Like I said I like Penn and have had great suiccess with it.

If everything checks out when you get them I would say it was a good deal.  Retail for both would be around $380.

Got the set feels awesome, bigger then what im used to. Im worried i should got a lighter version I chunk a lot but I want to start plugging/lures. Its definitely stiff and its rated 3-8 will I need something lighter for plugs?

If you want to do both, and do it right, you will need at least two rods.  Use this one for your bait and seek out a lighter combo for your plugging.

It probably would be recommended to have at least 2 poles.  I have 3 that are my go to for different situations.  I have an 8' I use for small to medium plugs. A 10' I use for med to heavy plugs and light surf and a heavy rod with conventional reel that I use for heavy surf and heavy 8 and bait situations.

I would get use to the set up you have now and its feel.  In a short time go to a lighter set up later this summer and get ready for the Fall season where plugs are a must.  At least in my mind.
