Got a rod that needs a reel,

Hey guys, still haven't had any luck down in Avalon. Been busy with work fo rthree weeks and haven't got out much. So, the other day I'm thinking, I've got a Fin Nor Pwerlite rod (PLS701M 7', med act, 1/8-5/8 lure wgt, 8-17 line wgt) that needs a reel. I have a Daiwa Sweepfire A3500 on another rod and I like it.Would this be a good match for this rod or is it too much? I've had the rod for 5yrs +/- in my basement. It was given to me and I hate to see it not being used. As light as it is I was thinking it would be a good lure rod. Would it handle blues, weakies and stripers in the bay? Or would I be better off to use it in freshwater. Look forward to your advise.

Hi Greaman1069,

Without being familiar with the rod, it looks like a good light saltwater rod for weakies, blues and fluke in the surf.

Mathcing rods and reels are so much of a personal thing ... if you like the Daiwa, try it with the Fin Nor rod. If it works for you, case closed ... if not, I am a big fan of Shimano Stradic reels for light tackle.

I have that same rod with a Fin Nor Estima 400 reel. Broke the rod tip and would like to replace it. Let me know if you ever want to sell it.
