Favorable wind directions

Just wondering which winds everyone prefers to fish in and which ones bring the clean water?

All depends on where.  Each area will have a different wind direction that is better.

From the surf on IBSP and the Seaside area, NE wind is good.  An E wind can be good, unless it produces the conditions we saw last night.  A S or SE wind is generally bad in that area.  A W wind keeps the surf calm, cleans up the water and helps with casting, but brings the bugs.

I was looking for the clean water winds. This question was prompted due to last nights terrible conditions haha.

Not sure which way the wind ended up last night bit it started to change to the SE which was why the bite was off.  The surf conditions were not bad as that was great surf for stripers, wrong time of the tide though.  I would say if you had stuff out around 2 AM you might have hooked into something with stripes on it.

Just remember when the record striper was caught...During a Nor'easter in AC.  On a plug no less...On September 21, 1982. 78# 8oz, Lure: Rebel 5-½" Black-back Silver Minnow.  It took Al McReynolds 1 hour 40 min to land that big cow.

So for you new guys to the surf scene, don't be afraid to get wet.  Storms could be your best friend.

Happy Catching
