Fluke and Seabass
« on: August 20, 2010, 09:00:23 PM »
Left the dock a little later than usual today. Had Naked Ed, John, his 15 year old daughter Laura and Dave on board.

Headed north and Dave and Laura hooked up only minutes into the first drift. Two for the box, one at 19 and the other at 20". Made several more drifts on this line with negative results. Moved a bit further out and the shorts started multiplying again.

Saw The Lady J, manned by Ross and his buddy. Motored over to say hi. Learned that they already had 8 keepers in the cooler. Needed no further encouragement to start drifting that area (along with Ross' blessing ;D).

Picked more shorts and a few more keepers. Also picked some nice sea bass.

Ended the day with 6 keeper fluke, nothing big, and a dozen and a half nice sea bass.

Laura was on fire today. Seems like I spent more time unhooking fish for her than I did fishing, but I enjoyed every minute of it.

I know how you feel.
Went out on the Paramount with my daughters on Tues for Sea bass.
Mate assistance was non existent, not that I would ever mind helping my girls but it was alot of work between taking off fish and tying new rigs.
At least I got them to bait their own hooks.

Joe
It was great to see you out on the fluke grounds

We had 2 legal limits and lots of shorts. My son Brian had a 6.5 pounder that day

They just love that Asian Market big squid on a bucktail teaser rig

We had nice results with big smelts as well

When I got over to your dock they were taking pictures, That young lady was ear to ear smiles, I'm sure she will remember that day for years to come. Just like my boys still talk about fishing with you on your boat and that was 10 years ago.  slt
