Had Mick Pirolli and Friends aboard today for a Fluke trip...Matt, Gary, Mack Dom, and Ron rounded out todays Crew.
After dismal Fluke bite yesterday we were hoping they would chew better today.
Got up to the grounds and seen the same dirty water... made 2 Drifts and had very little life.
Wasnt gonna wait around to see if they were gonna bite... took a steam even further offshore in some cleaner water and decided that where we would concentrate for the day unless a better bite develops inshore.
Drift was pretty quick but we had some shorts and a keeper in the box pretty quick. Never could get a good bite going... but we were able to bounce around getting a keeper or two here and there... some drifts were dead and then we would get a little shot at a couple fish.
Heard from others that the bite was slow inshore... so stayed with the life we had and grinded it out.
Current and drift were pretty strong most of the day... but it was manageable
Few nice keepers in the 4 up to 7lb range, rest were 18 -20 inchers.
Put in a long day and the guys fished hard today despite a tough bite and were rewarded with a nice cooler of fluke esp with the conditions of late.
By days end we wound up with 23 Keeper fluke up to 7lbs and 1 Seabass.
As always Mick and Crew were a blast to have aboard. We are looking forward to having them back out next week for another fluke trip before it closes.
Thanks again guys!!!
