I don't post if I get skunked. When I do post I try to give as much detail as possible.
What happened to that guy that said we were all liars?

As far as spot burning and giving lurkers reports, I couldn't care less about posting general areas.

There's a number of people out fishing on any given day. Are hundreds of people going to rush out and buy a boat so they can get in on the hot fishing at "Bouy 18"?

This is usually a touchy subject with me.... don't mean that to be nasty in any way..  a site I use to post on regularly was FILLED with guys who wanted to hold ur hand and let u take them directly to THE spot everytime ya went out,you just couldn't give them enough info....and of coarse you were seen as a jerk because you caught and they just didn't get what u got... they didn't seem to understand that the guys catching put in a crazy amount of time on the water, bustin their azzes and not catching at times to finally perfect a method that worked, experimenting and spending MAD dollars on gear, tackle etc that helped even more, and finding productive areas and understanding that those areas only worked under certain conditions like time of day, tides, wind direction, etc.... so what I am saying is there is more to it than just telling someone Go here tomorrow you will kill them...

Charter guys absolutly need to protect themselves as far as giving out info especially on the NET with the tuff competition out there for smaller and smaller customer base... I know of a few charter guys stealing numbers because they are either new wanna be's or just plain lazy...

As for myself when summer arrives I fish tournaments EVERY weekend, why would I cut my own throat giving info on a message board to people who aren't even members or who are yet don't post just come to look ..

That being said... if someone emails me for advice or to answer a question, and many from this site have, or if we meet on the dock and talk, I try to answer best I can, as some of what I know WAS supplied to me by good fisherman and Capts that have become GOOD FRIENDS .... a big part of becoming a good fisherman is figuring some things out yourself...

Finally I will say this in all seriousness that THIS SITE IS THE BEST ONE out of the many I frequent through out the year, and I am very happy to have the privlage to post here at all.... so if I can help fellow members out in anyway just drop me an email or PM and I will do my best..... slt

I would never expect a professional captain or tournament guy to post his spots.

I don't see any harm in something like "did well at xx area on killies last of the outgoing tide today". It's nothing you wouldn't have read in the newspaper 20 years ago. The advantage of a message board is that it's current info.

i know we are talking reports here guys....and this is all the more reason for everyone to make themselves a log book....you can write down all the info you want...date, time, moon phase, air temp, water temp, depth, tide , clarity, lat/lon, baits and colors used....anything you want and you can go back and review them anytime you want
reports are good to a point... and lets face it...fluke fishing itself(not just the keeper part of the equation) was outstanding...tons of fish...but as with any fishing...they could be in one spot one day and not there the next.
As with(TOM)on T.N.T i get my private messages from the guys on this site...ask any of them if i havent responded to them.... and i give my info and i get my info to and from friends, charter and party boat captains. i've never stolen a number or spot burned anyone on the radio or the web...i find my own fish and spots...but thats not to say i never got a call or some help every now and then.
while you will never see me post lat and long #'s, i try to give a known area in  the proximity.
Report spots are a nice place to give it a try the next day but you need a back up plan each trip... and this is where the log book can come in handy sometimes.

To me Tom (TnT) exsplains it the best.you have to put in the time to find the fish.I report every trip myself whether it's good day or a bad day.this is a great fishing board, have met a few from here and have networked with them while out on the water and have gotten fish and tried to help when I can, thats why we have cell phones so you don't bring everyone to your spot, part of the challenge is to find the fish and then catch them and they're not in the same place everyday.   slt    Kez

Yea.. I don't like that.  If ever come across a site I have to register.. to see..  I leave and NEVER Return..

But I do use a few tricks.  Like posting a "Topic Moved"  into a thread only register members can see.  Like the members Den ;D  then they see.. they need to be registered to see this forum..

I also agree with Tom.  Most people are looking for hot spots.  When I ask, I am looking for approx. location.  I am not privileged to fish every day like some.  I only get out once a week.  With that said, I hate killing the 1 day a week driving in circles.  Yes, I would look for some help, not a handout.  If I fished more often, less help would be needed.  I, for one, am not going to take business away from our charter captains, but I would like a good starting point on where the hot bite has been the past week.

I know I put some people directly on top of the spring stripers this season.  They emailed me and said they never caught them so good, and I got a good thank you.  There were still fish there for me the next time I went out to that spot.  I also lead people to some good crabbing spots.  Yes, that spot has been getting very crowed as of late with people waving to me, who I don't know, but again, there are still plenty of crabs there for me the next time I go there as well.

I posted about 90% of my reports, both good and bad.  Hell, the bad was alot more common this season for me.  I think this site is far and away the most helpful in terms of fishing reports, baits, strategies, and locations.  Even though I have fished all my life, I have only owned my own boat for the last 2 years and this site was invaluable to me for both boating tips and for fishing tips.  I have been to other sites that I never joined and look at their posted reports, and there's just such an air of secrecy around them.  It's basically a report of "hey look at me, I caught big fish and you didn't".

Here people lend a hand.  Nick (Luna) put me on my first spring striper.  Not only did he give me a spot, but he gave me the exact methods he used to fish it and I pulled a couple nice Stripers using his tips.  Rick (Still Running) helped me find a rebuilt engine for a reasonable price that put me on the water this season without any engine issues.  Because of this site I am a better boater and fisherman, and I think that's what it all comes down to.  If I ever find a magic honey hole out there I wouldn't even think twice about letting every here know about it.  That's what sets this place apart.
