Another Fluke season ENDS : Thoughts on Reports !!!
« on: September 06, 2010, 09:21:46 PM »
Whats your thoughts on the fishing reports you have  read on the site?? Fluke, Bass, Sea Bass. :headscra:

Do you feel they were  helpful?????? Or something else. ::)
Do you feel they contained enough information about wind, tide, bait and locations to help you save some time, effort, gas, etc. and get on the fish faster ???  :-*

What can we consider to include in our reports  in the future?  t^

Keep in mind not every one wants to share their toys in the playpen.  ;) rofla

AJ,

I think that about sums it up, perfectly.  There are those that are willing to share everything they know to help you out.  These are the folks that post reports good or bad, tell you what worked and what didn't, and are always ready to offer whatever advice they can to make you a better fisherman.

Then there are those that use the internet as their own personal bragging board.  ::)

I don't think we can change the latter.  So thank goodness this site is blessed with quite a lot of the first group! t^

I wish I could use this forum as my personal braggin board.

..but then I'd have to lie....

Don'tcha just love those who never seem to have a bad day? Never a bad report? I mean, (aside from TNT and the Monger,) it happens to the best of us. Specially us hacks!!!

If I post up that I slammed em at 11A that ain't gonna change anything anyways- 11A's a big place, and the bay's even bigger. Not to mention they prolly ain't gonna be there tomorrow...

Yes, I agree what has been said. I think some  guys really go into detail and try to help the next guy. Good intel,VHF, or reports often does save time, money, gas and effort.Thats okay.We all realize nobody puts the fish on the hook. We find our own;thats what we do and will continue to do for the next 50 years.
But these reports of limits, limits, limits, and slaughters slaughters with no substance or relevance to method, technigue, bait, tide, wind, current, general area(no spot burn)seem only to enhance one's name and possibly ego.
Good Fishing! t^ chrz

My Tuna Report....  That was for my Image and Ego ;D

God Knew I needed it ;D

For our Sponsors and Capts. That make this site possible Financially. I don't expect Pin point detailed reports.  They have bills to pay and need to show that If you want to catch fish. Book with them. t^ and all of them are top notch Fishing Machines t^

I try to give reports to help fellow recreational guys like myself. We have limited time on the water and may go a while between trips, so a small push in the right direction is a big help.

The charter guys are trying to promote thier business. I don't have any problem with that.

...and it would be pretty boring around here without all the fish pile pics!

I agree 100% with BnB..I too, when I can, give the best detailed report I can. There are things I've learned through trial and error and things where I was lucky enough to have someone walk me through it. I have no problem trying to help the next guy because I remember when I need(ed) too!! That is what makes this site better than the other NJ fishing forums...for me NJSWF is home.

Spot burning is a mortal sin. ::) "Techniqe" and "how to" info is all that I can offer. After all "Teach a man to fish and he'll catch/find his own fish " ;D

I must confess that I have been out on the boat many, many more times then I have reported this summer, I felt that an unproductive report would not be very helpful to the members. I'm talking Fluke season,, I now look at it a bit different. This is the only sight I look at. I have met and fished with a bunch of very good and experienced fishermen. And I have learned so much from these people.
Reporting a bad fishing day can be very helpful to the rest of this crew we have here at NJSWF.COM. Small fish and locations where caught will help us pick a different location next time out. We can save some fuel money too.
Also wind direction, Weather, water temp are great to have in a post. Bait types and rigs etc. etc.  So lets try to spend alittle more time on the details and conditions and maybe we can increase our catch ratios this fall. t^

t^ Very constructive.  I agree  ;D I fish mostly in the Manasquan River and Barnegat Bay for fluke. Same fish but very different than say the Raritan/Sandy Hook.So General location is important to include.Rarely do I drag bait until late summer. Will/do include details as much as possible.  ;D

Now we are getting to the Nuts and Bolts. chrz
I take a positve view on every trip;after we clean up and  have a cold one I think what did I do right and what did I do wrong. How will this information HELP me and  the NEXT guy on the next tide, trip or day.I have found this practice of sharing info.for more than 35 years  to be very productive.Exchanging information with friends and fellow fishermen comes back in Hearts. Some guys are unable get out fishing or hunting as often as they would like, fortunately they might get into the action with some good accurate reports.Detailed reports allows them this opportunity, not a garantee.
They still have to catch the fish or bag the game.Good for them. t^
Pass it on...  slt
