Irish Ayes Mud Hole Troll 9-22-10
« on: September 22, 2010, 05:41:38 PM »
Having not had the Irish Ayes out since the end of fluke season I desperately needed a salt fix. Left the dock with Bob G and Jim on board. Wanted to put some water under the boat instead of staying close to shore so the decision was made to troll the Oil Wreck area.

Broke the inlet and set the GPS for the Oil Wreck. Travelled in 2-3 foot seas and they rose to about 4-5 by the time we got to the fishing grounds.

Slowed down at the pots and put some trolling lines out. Set a quick four spread troll adorning two rods with feathers and two with Clark spoons. Within five minutes Jim was bringing a false Albie to the boat. The falsie hit one of the Clark's. In the box to be used at a later date for shark bait. Lines back out and on the troll again. Another five minutes passed when the Clark spoon rod bends down toward the water. Figure another falsie. Bob G gets the fish to the boat and it's a five pound mahi mahi. Beautiful color. In the box for dinner.

Trolled for two hours with no additional hits. Winds dying down some and the seas come back down to a respectable 3-4 foot.

Made decent time back to the barn, cleaned the boat and mahi. Counting down to the next trip.

Nice you got out there. I think Sunday you should try again.
