IBSP 9-23-10
« on: September 23, 2010, 03:45:44 PM »
What a day today   w0w
Got a super early start today, out the door at 4am, wawa for gas and coffee, loading up on bait as the shop opened at 4:30 and lines in the water before 5am.
Around daybreak the fun started.  Had a couple blues on bait as the sun came up.  Had what I'm sure was a good bass on a mullet that came unbuttoned.  Then switched to metals / teasers.
Today was the first time I've ever been able to say I couldn't keep count  5hrug
Blues in the 1-3lb range and shad just as big on almost every cast for an hour+.  Numerous double headers.  As the tide went out the fluke started biting.  Had at least 6 flatties, including a double header.  One was even a keeper  rgmn
My soft rubber supply too a beating today, used up 2 packs of Vision sandeels (hint hint).  Switched the teaser to a hand tied sandeel and that worked just as well.
The fish took pretty much anything skinny with a hook today, AVAs, T-Hex, etc.
As I was cleaning up the gear I set out a HiLo with clams to soak....bang....bass.  Didn't get a measurement, but he looked a little short.

The water looks real nice now.  Cleaned up good and there's some nice cuts and holes.  The hole I fished all morning gave up three bass (I believe the other two were on metal).  Lots of bait in the water, sandeels, mullet, etc.

Things are starting to look real nice  t^

We'll be back at it tomorrow with an evening trip.

Now that's a great day!  You rocked it Chris!  If I would have known you were going out that early, I'd have met you out there for a bit before work.

It was definetly a good day.
And a day of firsts.
First keeper size fluke from the sand
First bass of the fall
First double header
First shad
First catch on one of my teasers
Add that to yesterday's first tog....I'm on a hot streak

BINGO CHRIS!!! Skinny profiles are the key to success right now! Nice going with the Hi-Lo clam rig which is working too!!!!  clp clp

Hi Chris,

I have something I want you to try off the surf.  I know you like using mullet rigs.  Well I modified the thinking and tweaked the design and combined a FF  rig and the idea of the mullet wire pass through with a soft leader and a circle hook.  I used it yesterday and wow what a difference in the hook ups.

Happy Catching

Paul
