Another great day at the beach. I did not bother counting as there were to many fish being caught. But all I have to say if you have not caught anything off the beach, now is the time. There are tons of blues,fluke and small bass, all over the place.
My day started roaming the beach and watched some pretty good catches in all the usual holes and cuts. BS'ed a while and then picked a spot south of A23. Right between a camper and a pickup. I noticed that they both were dead sticking so I thought this should be great if I have the success of yesterday.
Well I could see a slight cut in the bar so I cast to it and in less than a minute fish on. Well this went on for a while and I noticed the couple in the pickup watching this. by this time my arms were getting tired so I made my way over to talk to them. It seemed that they were there for a while with no luck. By now we exchanged pleasantries they are (Matt and Sue) Super nice people.
I brought Matt over to the truck and showed him what I was using and how to bait this system. I told him being it was a circle hook your first tendency is to set the hook...DON'T. Well it took him I think 2 tries and then fish on. I think I have them hooked and another fan of not dead sticking. Why? Simply because you have to be able to feel the strike. Once that first tap tap tap just start to reel, fish on.
I left them biting as my arms were tired again, so home for some lunch.
You have to be able to recognize where the cuts and rips are. With the south wind blowing today I chose the south part of the structure. Needless to say it was catching today and not just fishing.
