On Monday morning I text Capt Jerry & asked him if he had 1 open spot for me & he replied 1 guy canceled.
I replied & said I am in.
I arrived at the boat at 5:30 am & It was raw & foggy.
The wind was honking from the south & I wasn't sure if we were going to sail.
I loaded my gear on the Fish Monger.
Wayne was already working when I got there.
About 15 minutes later the rest of the crew arrived & after that Capt Jerry arrived.
We hung around at the dock for awhile and at 6:20 we crawled out of the inlet.
Capt Jerry took us all to the grounds but due to the fog I have no idea where we were heading.
Capt Jerry stopped on some readings and Tony from another site hooked up with a Bonita.
After that Tony caught a keeper Fluke that had to go back due to the closed season.
After that Capt Jerry searched around and everytime he found some marks we dropped the jigs down.
All 6 guys fished hard but nothing was going on.
Wayne turns to all of us & says we are going bottom fishing.
Capt Jerry & Capt Wayne dropped anchor and The Sea Bass bite was insane but you all know Sea Bass is closed until 11/1 therefore every Sea Bass went back.
We picked away at some porgies but the bite was slow so once again Wayne said guys we are going jigging again.
Capt Jerry found what he was looking for and we all dropped our jigs down.
At that time we all caught Bluefish & once the wind shifted to the west at Noon some of us started catching Bass.I had 3 Keepers within minutes A few others caught as well.After we caught Bass Capt Jerry & Capt Wayne said we are not going to give up Bottom Fishing.He moved around anchored up & we picked away.The bite was still slow so Capt Jerry moved us again & again & again until he found what he was looking for.Capt Jerry & Capt Wayne doubled anchored and it took abit to get the Tog Going but when they started chewing it was good catching.Tony caught the 1st keeper Tog & he was really catching them.After that it was my turn
Now that I started catching Tony decides to mug me.No problem.I go back to the spot that Tony was fishing in and my rod got slammed.A few minutes later I boated a 8 lb Tog.Boy did I bust Tony's balls after I boated the 8 lber. Now the guy wants to fish the spot I had & I said no way after that we continued picking at the Tog and we kept 6 tog & released the rest.At 4:30 pm Capt Jerry & Capt Wayne pull the anchors up & Wayne says if we saw any good readings on the way in we will jig.Capt Jerry found good marks at 5:15 pm & we jigged until 6:15 pm.
At 6:30 pm we got back to the dock & Capt Wayne helped us all off with our gear.
Yesterday's trip yielded Porgies,Fluke,Sea Bass,Bonita,Bluefish,Stripers !
I got home at 8:20 pm & had 2 beers and fell asleep.
PS I bought 3 sandwhiches and only had time to eat one.I also had 6 Beers in my cooler & never drank 1.
