Left Highlands in the cover of darkness to try to sneak up on those elusive Stripers...Had Eels drifting at the rips just before day break...nada....Strong West wind about 20 kts and incoming tide made for a sloppy ocean....Birds working at day break out in between and to the south of the hook....didnt want anything...Jigs, Worms, Eels....Decided to troll in confused seas....Shortly after, rod goes down...then the other goes off...not killer action but a steady pick of blues to 10lbs until the tide change....now out going and west blow has us drifting at 3.5 kts....tried one last spot with eels...Brians rod doubles over and this fish is up top in a hurry...mouth is wide open and it has stripes....shakes off about 15 feet from the boat...YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! The boys fished hard today in some not so nice conditions...at least once again, the Blues saved the day!
sorry no pics...not much time off the wheel for me today.
