Hunter 2 Striper upper Raritan 11-6-2010
« on: November 07, 2010, 10:08:48 AM »
Cashin and I pulled out of Keyport at 11:30am to an outgoing tide, water temp 51 deg, sunny skies and a north wind blowing 15mph. "I have been keeping eels alive for weeks in a 5 gallon bucket with a screw on top and painted black that I drilled dozens 3/8" holes in submerge in the water at the dock leaving 3 to 4 inch's of the bucket above the water".  We trolled stretch 30's around the reach channel from the 18 towards the upper triangle and had no hits. We made a move and drifted eels up by the train bridge with no luck so we head over by Perth Amboy and on the first drop as I was letting the line down I thought I was snagged on the bottom. I soon realized I was connected to a nice Striper. It was a nice fight and the fish took plenty of drag on the light tackle I was using. After a 5 minute fight and a perfect net job by Chris we had a 38" 22lb on "On the Boga Grip" Striper. That was it though for the fishing. We had no more hits. We Got back at 5pm and found 4 big Mantis shrimp and a bunker chunk in its belly.    Good Luck!,  Eddie t^

Nice fish and catch Ed. I would like to know where you got that bucket with the screw top. I have a net but lost 14 eels last week. The bucket sounds like a good idea. Could probably find a way to lock it to. Just in case my eels did not escape,,,, :-\ ;) ;)
