Surf report 11 18 10
« on: November 18, 2010, 09:27:25 PM »
Today was the first time I got out in over a week.  Been a busy week and the rough surf last week didn't interest me.
I had to pick up a reel in SSP so I figured I'd give the beach a try.  Since I smacked up my truck yesterday, I had to walk on.
Out for about 2 hours during the 2nd half of incoming.  Wind was light from the west.  Water a relatively flat. Lots of guys out where I was.
There was bait just over the bar that was leaping form the sea like they were being harassed by bass. Boats and yaks were right on it but getting nothing out of it.
I had a couple hits on plugs that didn't turn into anything.  Got one short bass on an AVA literally as I was about to lift the lure from the water.  I was very happy since I've been carrying a skunk around for about 3 weeks.
Always work that lure all the way to your boots...don't sell yourself short.

Back out tomorrow for sunrise I hope.

Good report Chris.  I will be out as well but not at sunrise.  It seems lately that the dawn or dusk rule has been thrown out the window for now.  I am seeing as many fish being caught all during the day as during those "Magic Hours" like before.

This might just be for a short period of time but I think it is simply because there is so much bait around that the bass are using this opportunity to gorge themselves while they can.

Any way you look at it it is good fishing right now and i think it will continue for a while.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
