Islander - MOB ?

This was not our Capt. Mikes Islander. 

Anyone else hear about this?

MANTOLOKING, N.J. — The Coast Guard rescued a 59-year-old male after he fell off a 45-foot charter boat he was fishing from one-half miles east of Mantoloking Tuesday.

Rescued was Jim Sager, 59, from Point Pleasant, N.J.

The Coast Guard received a call from a crewmember aboard the Islander reporting Sager went into the water after he was hit by a loose bait box.

A 25-foot Response Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet, N.J., arrived on scene and rescued Sager from the water who was suffering from hypothermia.

Sager was transported to the station and transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel and taken to Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J., in stable condition.

I have seen this Islander on the water this past fall. I believe it is a charter boat.

The ocean looked really mean today. I took a ride down to my boat to clean out the cabin and later drove to the beach to see the ocean condition. It was wild out there.

Good to hear that he was recovered safely.

Yea.  I just wanted to make sure people knew who it was..  at first. I thought it was Mike's Boat.. earlier.. before this post was made..

Yeah...i saw it too on another site....my first thought was Capt. Mike's boat as well....but the length of the vessel described had me a little suspicious...i know his boat isn't 45 ft...so i called Rod obviously! 
glad all are safe and that it wasn't our friend involved!

   Thankyou Coast Guard!        Im wondering why the crew of the Islander could not recover the guy from the water?   Must be a good reason.

I heard it was because of the guys weight. They others on the boat could not get him out of the water, there was no 'tuna door'.

*Helpful hint...If you are on a boat with no tuna door, swim platform/ladder and can not hoist a person out of the water, put a loop in the end of a line (you do have a spare line on your boat don't you?) or use the eyes that is in the line you have and secure the line on a cleat. (this is similar to a bosun chair) Have the person in the water put his foot into the loop (not THROUGH the loop. He can then 'step' into the boat or you can pull the line up assisting him into the boat.

I'm sure hypothermia came into play here with 50 degree water.the guy probably was in shock and couldn't assist getting back in the boat. He's a pretty lucky guy.

I remember when me and Capt Ant. Rescued somebody from the mansquan river.. The weight is incredible when the bodys soaking wet, and the clothes are wet. Good thing we had a tuna door.. The guy was trying to swim across the river.

Ocean was wicked yesterday, good save.. it happens.
