NCMFC decision on trawling for striped bass

The Marine Fisheries Commission met yesturday and Dr. Louis Daniel discussed the incidences with the trwlers and the bogus picture of thoiusands of dead fish. He acknowledged as did some of the Commissioners the thousands of emails and bad publicity from across the Country.

NC has app. 60,000 pounds left on there trawl quota. It was determined that there will be a one day season whereby the trawlers can harvest and land 2,000 pounds and they can transfer at sea any fish over their limit in 2,000 increments to any other approved (permitted/licensed) boat. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE NOW IS THEY CAN ONLY TOW FOR 30 MINUTES AT A TIME.

Who will be watching the clock?
