Fix a Rod Tip
« on: March 09, 2011, 09:28:00 PM »
Nothing can ruin a day more then snapping a rod tip or chipping a ceramic insert. That's why I always have in my tackle box a lighter, replacement tip and some heat glue. The first thing is to remove the old tip. Very carefully heat the base of the tip until it loosens. Don't overheat as it could damage the blank.
After removing the old tip, heat the glue and apply to blank and tip liberally then quickly align tip so it lines up with other guides. Let cool, remove any excess glue and your back in business. Go fishing!!
Good things come to those who bait

Builds and repairs rods if needed

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
