In the market for a heavy spinning rod

I'm looking to get a spinning rod to use for live lining and or/chunking stripers on party and charter boats.

I'm thinking 7' for 15-30lb line. I'm willing to spend in the 100.00 to 200.00 range. I already know that I want a Shimano Baitrunner for a reel and will likely load it with mono.

Anyone have any recomendations on a good rod?

A Tica would be a worthy rod...not sure if the wreck series (which I use on a boat)have any spinning models. they may all be conventional...worth taking a look at the brand all together though.

Take a look at the St Croix Tidemaster rods. High quality and priced around $150 for the 7 footer. I make my own but I tidemasters are still some of my favorites rods.

I will 2nd Phil's recommendation of the St. Croix  Tidemaster (either the 7 or 7 1/2').  Another rod to consider would be one of the Star Stellar Lites.  Both brands are now available at Dick's Sporting Goods.  Also, right now, you get a free hoodie when you buy a St. Croix at Dick's.

BTW, St. Croix and Star Rods will be on hand at the Somerset show this weekend (as well as many others).   Might want to head up there this weekend for an opportunity to pull on a bunch of them.

Myself and quite a few others from NJSWF will be there Friday night.

I'm a big fan of St. Croix rods and have a few of them. Maybe I need to add a Tidemaster to my collection.

On the other hand it looks like Tica is having a closeout on their Striper series rods through thier website.

BT, Does Dick's stock the full St Croix line?

Hey was just looking at this and do you plan to use an older model baitrunner or the new model? I'm only asking because you said you want to load it with mono and the new model isn't really made to hold mono they are really set up for braid you use you can still fit with mono just wont get as much as you would with braided line. I own three of the new models and the spools are really small so all mine have braid on them!!

 im really impressed with the tsunami line of rods, and is all there is on the boat.

 caught 25lb-38lb stripers last week with an xxheavy and okuma bait runner, definently not disapointed.

Tsunami rods are definitely overlooked as they are pretty damn good...another one overlooked that also competes with the more "expensive" brands would be TICA.........

They are great rods. I have a 7' Classic series conv that I really like. I thkink it was about $35.00.

I recently got my girlfriend a 5 Star spinning outfir that's real nice.
