Well guys, the fishing out of Oregon Inlet, NC is hot right now. I'm sure everyone heard of the 805#, caught aboard the Sea Breeze, that was just confirmed as the new state record. So the Benchmark Crew joined in! I've been trying to help get the Nyse~ly~Done... A private Viking50, out of Brielle, down there for a few weeks now, but even in a 40 mile attempt, turning around at Brigantine, we always got blown out. Well last Thursday was the day, so a few last minute plans were made, and we broke Manasquan at 5:30am, making Oregon inlet by 6:30pm. After navigating the shoaled up areas of the inlet, we got our slip at Pirate's Cove...
We put a crew together and fished Fri, with great conditions. We went 3 for 4 on fish up to 80". We were not even able to find a fish under the 73" mark to keep. So being late afternoon with the 3rd fish, we decided to make that fish our trophy and use our 1 over to bring back a jumbo.

Inviting the guys from Palm Beach Towers out, we wanted sushi for the night's festivities.

Friday brought some weather more conducive to this time of year, with a clear morning, and forecasted 25-30knots in the afternoon. We set the spread around 7am, and within 30 mins were locked up. After a brief battle on a 130, released a 66" fish, another 30mins of trolling and again a reel sings. This time an over @ 76", released. Tried running around with the jigging fleet, but not too much happening, jigging seemed to be broke, as most of the fleet's bites coming from trolled Ballyhoos. At one point, we were lined up with 8 other boats, spinning, kinda like in choreographed moves, as each boat had crews working hard in the chairs! The Canyon Runner boys were next to us for a fish, at one point almost crossing lines. We boated another two fish before the wind got strong and the seas got big, building to 6-9's with scattered 10's coming through. We took the 4th fish as our under 73" and ran for the calm water of Pirate's Cove.
