New member Returning to surf fishing
« on: April 08, 2011, 01:42:33 PM »
I have been reading some of the posts on here about surf fishing for striper's and it seams to me that the bait of choice is clam.

I was just wondering if bunker works well from the shoreline in the later season.

I guess I should explain that I am a dissabled vet and walking or standing for any lenght of time is not possable so bait fishing for striper's is most likely my choice. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Joe

Bunker as well as clams are great baits for the striped ones.
The photo to the left....That striper was caught on a bunker chunk last fall.
Welcome aboard!

slt Thank you all for the welcome, I plan on stopping in here as often as possible for hints and information. This looks like a great site for salt water enthusiast. My brother and I plan on surf fishing in a few days, if we score I will attempt on posting the results.

Good fishing to all  chrz

Clams seem to be a good choice if going the bait route at this point.  A high-lo rig or a fishfinder rig will get them out there.  Water is still chilly, so try and avoid the sand spike if you can.  Keep the rod in your hands since the fish might be a bit sluggish.  Good luck.  slt

There was a little NE blow out there, which isn't that bad.

There's a river in Seaside?  :headscra:

Jason: No there is no river  fcp I meant to say BG Inlet, we ended up on the beach at 9th ave in seaside park. Lasted about two hours. Low tide, windy SE, Cold, NO FISH!! But we had some fun watching my wife fish. She's a trooper!!
