4/13 Eve.- Raritan Bay: Thanks for the freshies!
« on: April 14, 2011, 11:07:21 AM »
I am in process of getting everything situated on the boat, so with the rain tapering off Tombo and I headed out for a shakedown/scouting trip around 7ish last night. Work kybosh'd any chance of locating fresh clams, so we figured maybe look around and perhaps toss something manmade if we heard or saw anything doin'.

We got out into the bay a little ways and saw Hunter 2 heading in. Stopped and chatted with Eddie for a few. As he regaled us with tales of clams cracking and stripers a-flying into his boat, a pail of bivalves was passed. GAME ON; thanks Eddie!

We motored to the massacre spot as it got dark. The tide was still running pretty good and the wind picked up a tad. Tom and I set up the usual clam schmorgasbord, but to no avail. Either the dark shut down the bite, or Eddie caught 'em all! Not a touch.

We stuck around for a few hours crackin' and telling tall tales, waiting on the morones, but it was not to be. Slipped back to the slip around 9:30. Boat ran good, we'll gettem next time...

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

Hey Warren, what's your ride out there?  Might have seen you passing by Brown's, I was in the parking lot finishing up the bottom paint and saw a Grady with a Honda outboard pass by right around that time.  Was that you?
