NJ Surf Fishing
« on: July 23, 2007, 10:51:42 AM »
Hi All,

If anyone is thinking about a day at the beach, today and tomorrow may present good opportunities.

With the Nor'easters, come opportunities for dunking clams. The wave action from the storms tumble, crack and open the clams from the beds and push them up on the beach. It is an easy meal for any lazy Striped Bass (Striper) to have to indulge in.

Hot spots that I fish are at Sandy Hook near the clam beds; Pt. Pleasant Beach and Manasquan in the "pockets", especially in the north pocket of the Manasquan Inlet; Island Beach State Park (Gillikens down to the north pocket).

I go to an area and look for clams that have washed up and fish that area.

Please remember that you need a clamming license to take or possess the clams lying on the beach.

Clamming licenses can be bought at our Sponsor, Pell's, on Mantoloking Road in Brick.

Hi Irish Ayes,

They have the Peruvian Smelts and big Killies.

I keep saying this but if you are a spearing user (which I am foe sea bass) they are going to get extremely hard to get as the local spearing are still small and the Spring Lake Freezer is out of their supply of Canadian spearing.

I used the Peruvian Smelts and killies effectively on Saturday.

Best wishes,

Ed

Thanks Capt Ed.  I do use spearing and you are right, the ones at the docks are still on the small side.  Hopefully the will get bigger soon.  I hate buying when I can catch it myself.  Less expensive and more fun.

Thanks Capt. Ed.

I might try it tomorrow.  I went out Sunday and started noticing a number of clams already on the beach late at night.  The sand at IBSP is being gouged out pretty good.  I wonder if they will be closing parts of the beach between A7 and A 23.  I will let everyone know later.  I plan to go over there in about an hour before I have to pick up my wife in Lakewood.

Anyone want to buy an 1996 Benz C420?  I can't stand the thing.  I have the wife talked into switching veh's and letting me look for a used F250 4X4 so we can put a camper back on it for the beach.

Happy Catching

Not quite sure but it will probably be in the range of $10,000 - 15,000.

It has been garage kept since it was bought and maintained by the dealer or qualified MB Mech. Beautiful Condition.

Sorry for  subject swapping guys.

Happy Catching
