Striper from Surf on GULP! 5/29
« on: May 30, 2011, 10:49:50 AM »
Sunday morning I didn't have the chance to stop off and get some clam or bunker.  I decided the next best thing in my tackle box was Berkeley Gulp, so 'what the hell' and I tried it out.  After about an hour, I had a decent fish on and ended up landing a 30in striper between 10 and 15lbs.  Anyone ever hear of using Gulp on a hi-lo rig and actually catching something worth while?

What kind of gulp were you using in place of bait? I've caught bass blues weaks and fluke on bucktails tipped with gulp swimming mullet and paddle tail shads but I'm not a fan of dead sticking a gulp on a bait rig. I tried gulp crab on a bait rig once. I had no confidence in it and switched back to the real thing after 5 minutes.

I used the 4" swimming mullet, white, from my fluke tackle last year.  I guess it works anyway you use it.
