Irish Ayes Bassing 6/6/11
« on: June 06, 2011, 09:10:23 PM »
Had Bob Cole, Ralph and Johnny Oz onboard today. Left the dock at 8 this morning. Fueled up at $4.14 a gallon  cfzd which was up by plenty since the price last week was #3.85. Don't know why the hugh increase since the price on the street has been dropping.  5hrug

Anyway, headed south out of the inlet. Found some bunker and put several into the well. Didn't find any bass on them so off we went to the Sea Girt reef, this time, in search of some fluke.

Hit several parts of the reef and put five keeper fluke in the box, the largest being just under 23". Floated the reef till early afternoon and then went back in to the beach thinking of big stripers.

Aimed the bow of the boat toward the south of Manasquan Inlet hoping the bass would show up there again today. Well, they did, big time again. Caught over a dozen bass between the four of us, only keeping six to bring home. WE also found one floating on top, belly up. This bass still had some breath in it but couldn't get enough steam to swim off. We tried to revive it forcing water thru it's gills but it just wasn't happening.  :'( We put it in the box for a meal instead of just letting it float away. It was admirable of the person who tried to catch and release the fish, but after putting up an extensive fight like they do, they have to be revived before release.

Back at the dock by 5 for some cleaning of fish and boat.

Will be doing some work on the boat tomorrow so no fishing for me.  :P

I'm in the cabin, sitting on the helm chair Rod. That's where the chair is SUPPOSED to be on a FISHING boat.  smk   TT^

Kenny, Rod got the chairs from me. They clashed with the fishing activity on my boat. When you use your boat as a cruiser, well... ;D
