Today I had Dez and his 2 sons Young and Harnel who drove up from Virginia for a shot of Jersey wreck fishing. Plan was meat and lots of it. Started off a with fast pick of weenies but not enough keepers in the mix. Made a few moves and found some fish but a 1.3 knot current kept us from getting a good hit on the them. Made a 9 mile run to get away from the tide and found a good pick for the guys. Nice stuff today with over a 14" avg and the best just over 3 lbs. Harnel was a cod magnet releasing 8 shorts and dropping a nice 24" fish boatside. Young had the blackfish down and is really looking forward to the July 15 opener. Around 12:30 with the winds picking up the 3 anglers had 45 seabass,3 ling to 3.5 lbs and one legal cod on ice and released 10 short codfish,2 dozen tog and a few dozen short seabass. The group opted to go give the stripers a shot. A run into the beach found a nice tight ball of bunker but only produced one run off and a small shark attacking a bait. Another fun day with a great group of fisherman.
