Lighthouses for sale??
« on: October 17, 2011, 01:17:37 PM »
Recently there's been talk and postings about different lighthouses going up for sale. I think Romer Shoals and Great Beds are the latest.

Can someone explain this to me?.  ??? What are you buying? What can you do with it? What need would anyone have for a structure in the middle of the water?

Sorry but I just don't get it.  5hrug ??? 5hrug ???

I know some dude bought a island in new york recently. Pretty cheap i heard.

As for the light houses i heard there tryin to sell it to educational or maritime facilities. This way they still get used and cleaned up at the same time. I dont know if the romers is for sale??? I would have to think not. Just to much work to get a dock build there and mantaine it..

I do like the fact that they want to sell them to certain places only, to keep the history of the lighthouse goin...Many have forgotten how much of a roll those lighthouses played back in the day, some still do! Ill lookfor the story i read and post  it here....... chrz chrz

i think you could make a b&b out of great beds, but romer's would be tuff b/c they require the foghorn to remain operational and maintained by the cg....

it would suck to be sitting back with a snifter and a seegar, or even worse sleepin it off, only to be interrupted by
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

perhaps a seasonal reastaurant where you'd ferry your guests out there or they could dock and dine....

it's likely both lights will need work and/or are superfund sites, however, cuz we all know how well our gov't maintains things and takes responsibility for their actions.....

I think rod should buy it and put the njswf head quarters there. Also put cow nets around it for free bait and sink a bunch of cars around it for toggies.
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
