Pilot - the boyz blasted the Tog 10/23
« on: October 23, 2011, 08:24:14 PM »
Here it is.... T-Bone, Capt's Don Jr, Don Sr and the Circus tent orchestrator Kooz made crew for a run through the rips to dunk the snakes.... Came up empty.  Motored south in flat water past the end of SH Channel and began the drift again.  T-bone is the lone ranger with clam while the balance of us continued to keep the eels swimming.   No takers on the slimmy criters but T's rod doubles over on a real slow drift dragging clam.   Sweeeeet CB that would have boxed, returned!  We nosed around doing this routine for a good 45 minutes moving a 1/4 mile at best.  Easy picking.  Began boating CB's and good quality Tog on the drift!!!   As the current started to turn on, found the right marks and dropped the pin to put us in position to bang the Blackies with reckless abandon.  Donnie Jr, Don Sr, Kooz, T-Bone, myself punished the toothy guys with clams, asians and fiddlers.  This was non-stop action for 2.5 hrs with little movement required on the anchor.  Filled the livewell and began culling.

Kooz had us pissing our pants as he put on a show with the Putt Putt jacking up quality Tog, and a hand full of Spiny Dogs.  You know what it was like today  This is insane Indian Summer Tautog weather.  A little chill in the morning and by mid afternoon, you're striping off layers.   We easily had a 18-20 keeper fish and twice that in tossers. Kept our 5 and pulled the pin around noon to search out some stripers.  Back North to Roamers.  Unloaded the mother load of cracked clams and managed the lone bucket mouth for the day.  Knocked down a clam snot and dropped it half way up for it to only smack it a second time.

What a day!   The guys pounded it hard on the tog.  Left them biting.  Gave it our best on the stripers.  Will have to return to fill the void. t^
