Pilot - The jig is up 11/13
« on: November 13, 2011, 04:13:04 PM »
Planned on a jig/troll excursion for a short day with Brother Jay, Dan and Schultz.  Had a dozen slimmy ones to give it a go at the Rips.   One pickup on the lively with a drop half way home.   s5r "NO BASS FOR YOU".    Gave this a couple earnest drifts then deployed the 9er's.  We had them in for maybe ten minutes and Schultz puts a bead on birds working the surface.  Gear retrieved and tried to make an inconspicuous move.   We were successful for about 15 minutes and had schoolies to our selves.   Swithching stuff up like chess players on a timer, Jay finds a hook set on his go to artificial.  Nice bump and Tikki II has good arch.  6" paddle shad impaled in the lower lip and everyone is switching out.   Dan gets into right away as does Jay again, then Schultz.  A 15 minute dream scenario turns to the crapper as some idiot comes flyin right in.  You guessed it!  Right smack dab into the thick of it.  Well, you know the story.... birds dispersed, fish went deep.  The life tried rebuilding but yahoo managed to disrupt it before it got going.  Motored away to find a new patch.   Came across another productive looking scene only to have it get busted up by guess who rgmn

Trolled a little bit more with nothing.  Tried our luck by the VZ with the eels and not a touch.

Good day out with some good peeps and had early action but all short.  Back at the barn by noon thirty.  TT^

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
