Hi guys - we opened up our Delaware Blackfishing season this past weekend. Here's the report
Saturday - 12/17 - The morning started with conditions that were a little sporty with some swell left over from Friday. Water was a relatively warm 53 degrees and we started a pick right away in 45-55 ft. At times we would seem to get some cold currents on the bottom as the sinkers and fish would come up ice cold. Fish definitely preferred the white leggers to the greenies and several guys started putting a catch together. By days end, we had a few guys who were close to their 10-fish limit, couple guys with 5-6 fish, some 2-3, and some with none. Biggest fish went around 9 lbs and the rest were real nice roasters. Very few shorts.
Sunday - 12/18 - Had a nice size group of fisherman with some fishing two days in a row. Started out fishing again in 45-55 ft and had some bites right away. Fishing got slow at times and the guys that worked for fish and finding a good piece of bottom caught fish. Several guys limited out, others had 7-8 fish, some 4-5 and down from there. Biggest fish Sunday went around 8 lbs. The fish wanted the white crabs on Sunday as very few if any bites were on the green crabs.
We are sailing this Friday 12/23 and Saturday 12/24.
