Welcome!

Well at least you tried. They were out there. Where were you fishing from?

Read a lot of previous threads here, years of good info to help you. Also dont be afraid to see if someone in your area is fishing and go out with them to help you figure out what you are or not doing right t^
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Where were you fishing?  This year was the year to do nothing but catch off the surf.  If you give us the particulars on what type of equipment and the places you like to fish, maybe we can help.

The more you go the more you experiment; the more you experiment, the more fish your likely to catch.  Like Rod mentioned AVA rigs were the key this year especially with using teasers about 18" above the lure.

Plus learn to read the water and only fish the breaks, troughs, and cuts if you want to catch fish.  By knowing some simple visual keys you will add to your catching rate.

Keep the questions coming as we are all here to help not like some sites.

Happy Catching

If you have any questions fire away.  The nice part about learning to read the water is that you can use it no matter which beach you are on.  They all work the same way. It is all dictated by the erosion of the sands that is caused by the currents below the surface.

The conditions change quite often and in many cases change over night.  Especially if there are no obstructions like groins or jetties to block the current.

Jetties are predictable.  The best side to fish them especially here in NJ would be the north side.  It will always be deeper and hold more bait which attracts larger fish.

The only difference would be if the jetty is part of an inlet system where the southern most jetty would have a build up of sand.  Due to the swift flowing currents the northern most jetty's south side would be semi free from the build up.  But if the inlet is wide enough there will be a build up of sand down the middle of the inlet.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
