A buddy of mine send me a pic of this and we're not sure what it is!   What's the application?Manufacturer? In current use today?  ??? ??? ???

The "how big is it" question was never answered.  But, it looks like something I saw in an ad in the back of a fishing magazine a loooooooong time ago. 

The object in the ad was designed to make sure the fish, once hooked, can't get off.  Hence the hinged jaws, similar to a Boga Grip.

I'm not saying that is definitely what it is.  But it does remind me of it.
