Keansburg Beach - Raritan Bay
« on: March 13, 2012, 06:10:17 PM »
Hit the beach packin worms and clams. Tide was at its lowest. Fished 5 hours of the incoming, weather was amazing, the fishing wasnt. Any good news from the surf around the Raritan?

I have heard of some fish caught up the Raritan but for the most part it is still Long Branch to Deal is where the action is, if you can call it that, right now.  Try the north sides of the jetties.

Many Stripers were caught in the usual spring spots in the Raritan bay on Monday with clams.

The bay beaches are producing sporadically.  A good spurt of a couple fish a day and then a fish or two and then sometimes nothing.  Most fish 30-34inches.  I have been using clams and bunker chunks.  There are bunker swimming around the bay and we have snagged them in our lines from time to time and used them for bait.

All reports that I gotten from my sources told me that the fishing was very good last Friday (23rd), when water temps at Keansburg hit a brief high of around 62. On Tuesday the 27th, it plunged to 42, that's a 20 degree drop in 4 days which could be a lot for Bass to handle, or temporarily shut them off for a while anyway.

Water temps today was hovering around 52 as of 3:00 pm.

My friends did well on the 23rd with "outgoing" tide and did zip on incoming.........water temps!

Just my observations but this time of year you might want to try the warmer outgoing tides.
