Great largemouth fishing today
« on: March 24, 2012, 08:56:14 PM »
Son and I went to a local pond we like to fish and decided to do lazy man fishing today...worms and shiners.  We got about five or six real good ones...12 inch plus and two (what I consider) trophies.  All good bass were caught on the shiners.  The worms were good for sunnies and the small bass (<8"). All fish where safely returned to be caught (and enjoyed) another day.

The pic below is of my son holding the monster he caught on his light 5'6" ugly stick w/20# braid and 1/0 hook. we jumped out of our shoes with this one!

thx guys...the memory of my son reeling that in is stamped in my brain.  it first broke water on him then ran into some fallen timber twice, thankfully the braid allowed him to pull it out of there.  I finally just grabbed the line with my bare hand and pulled him up on shore once he was close enough.  he hooked him perfect right in the corner of the mouth.

Here is the other 'trophy' that "WE" caught.  my son informed me I couldn't take credit for it since he started to real it in but I had to take over cause he started running into the brush piles down the bank.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
