Had the late shift with the boys just puttin the finishing touches on a good Friday before the holiday. Lt Willy, Kooz and a guest appearance by Capt Carl filled out the crew. Had the arsenal of 9'ers shads, tubes, and a variety of stretch/bombers in every color scheme care of Carl! Plan was to make our way to the back with the troll going to put some meat in the tub and then switch over to the bushel. We peeled lines just at the change of tide and dropped stretches through SH Bay around the Ammo pier. Marks were sporadic but when the showed they were thick. Nothing doing. Worked our way toward Orchard with Gannets banging the water hard! Switched out to shads. Nothing doing.
Back to the stretches, Chartruese, yellow, bunker blue, bunker brown/green. Nothing doing. Headed toward the flats with a final switch to the red/white and bang! Instant hook up. We had some fun with fish taking swipes, a handful of hook ups, couple of shorts, drops etc. Put one in the box. Then the current came on. Bites on the lures slowed to a crawl.
Change the gameplan..... hook is down and chums flying. Nothing doinnnng.... wind blew up as predicted. Kooz does his thing with one of his favs and bang! The it's starting to happen. But not with reckless abandon as we hoped. Schultz nails a nice one. Kooz adds two more to the pen. 6 o'clock is rolling around and there were enough bites to add to overtime rounds. We all caught. Kooz with the hot hand today. We boated 9, put 6 in the tub. Missed a handful. Largest 15# 34" Great company and good fishermen. Doesn't get much better
