Replacement Stretch 25 Hooks??
« on: April 23, 2012, 01:44:38 PM »
What hooks are you guys using on your Stretch's? Mine are already torn apart from one day fishing. Clearly, they're cheap.

The red hooks some of them  come with don't hold up at all. Replace them with quality hooks and new split rings if needed

I'm surprised the hooks are beaten up that bad already.

My arsenal of stretch 25/30 and 50's are all over 5 years old or so. I have yet to replace hooks on any of them.  They must of really cut back on production costs and cheaped out on the hooks.

Either way, I like the Gami 5/0 trebles.  LOVE Owner hooks but find the wire too heavy duty for inshore use.

1 fish on each of my new ones. The first one an entire hook of the treble broke off while the fish was in the boat and the trebles on the second one actually seperated from the center welds.

Fred, were they red hooks on those stretches?

I had the same issue last year on one of mine with the red hooks and I replaced them with Gami 5/0 trebles. As was previously mentioned you have to replace the split rings too.

The stretch I used the other day was an older one with the original (red) hooks, it worked well. I guess it's luck of the draw.

When are you planning your next trip?

No, they were silver ones.

I was thinking Friday. I know it's supposed to be blowing a little but, looks like it might slow down as the day goes on. I am still working on finding a partner.

Might try to go out Sunday with the kids to catch some winter flounder. They've been asking.

How about you?

One 32" bass pretty much destroyed the tail hook on one of my Stretch 25's with silver hooks.
