I believe it's legit.  You can usually barrow a trap from the local health dept or animal control.  Lowes and HD sell them too.
I believe you must check the trap no less then every 24hrs to avoid any cruelty issues.
Just make sure you take them several miles away, or they come right back.

use peanut butter for bait and spray there tails orange so you know if they come back.
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

FYI , it is against the law to relocate wildlife in NJ. So if you do, be discrete. Squirrel studies have shown that at least 7 miles is needed to insure that they don't return. As a property owner suffering damage, you are leagally allowed to trap them, document the damage with photos to protect yourself in the event some humaniac neighbor makes it an issue.

Don't let the SPCA catch you killing them or you'll make the newspapers, but they make tasty stew, and the tail hair can be used in tying flies, teasers, and jugs.

Tomahawk brand live traps are the industry best. The models with the lift off release door keeps your hands away from angry  critters teeth.

Good luck and catch'em up.

Are you allowed to take them fishing? They would probably like it over by the Lighthouse.  >:D

Be careful, You could catch a skunk!  nosmly, Remember, Skunks at night, squirrels dawn through dusk. Peanut butter is key, I make peanut butter sandwiches cut them in quarters. I've used that for skunks and works well. Although I've caught many squirrels by accident. A little tip, if you use a tube type trap, you'll know whats in there when he acts pissed off its a squirrel. Skunks get a free ride and relocated to the Gh***o cfzd good luck chrz
You can't catch'em from the couch. Can ya?

They make tube traps, sold at agway, or the internet. keeps them from putting there tails up. When you release them they back out of the trap confused and unaware, just stay back and let them wander off. Tube traps are much better than cages TT^

Skunks will pull the bag info the trap leaving it uncovered and tricky to approach to recover it without getting sprayed. You will need to hold a blanket in front of you fro protection, but uaslly set them off. Eye contact sets skunks off. You can make a simple trap cover with aluminum flashing and approach the trap from the side and not have to worry. This allows multiple species to be captured with the same trap, cutting down on trap costs. Skunks can also be taken care of by baiting a simple occur pipe attached to a barrel/garbage can full of water. The skunk climbs up the pipe, then can't turn around without falling into the water, thus drowning. They will not back down the pipe.
All of this makes catching fish seem easy.

Relocate them? where to?  :headscra:  Don't know about you, but you rarely hear "Man, we could really use some more squirrels around here "   ;D

But I do have a method that works well in winter..
 1) Set out a  kiddie pool, fill it and let it freeze
 2) Cut a 4"  round hole in the ice
 3) surround the hole with green peas
 4) When the squirrel comes out to take a pea, kick him in the icehole  t^   chrz

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.
