After this long winter I needed to go fishing. I fished a NS out of Brielle. It was pretty roomy on the boat as there were only about 30 fares on the 100 ft. boat. We fished in the area of the Farms for most of the day, then made a move later on to east of the Rocks. Early on the fishing was good, then wind against tide and swell made anchoring tough. At one point we were anchored facing north, he moved the boat, and next thing I know we are facing south.
We then tried one anchor and also drifting before finally getting some good wind in the afternoon. The drifting part sucked as I lost some rigs which did not happen on the anchor.
The tally at the end of the day for me was 49 nice sized ling, at least 20 to 25 conger eels, 4 sea bass that went back, one gigantic brown looking crab that I pulled off the bottom when I was stuck and thankfully only one ENDANGERED doggie. We used fresh clams, but the ling attacked those gulp grubs. They liked the yellow in the morning and then the pink in the afternoon. The pool winner was a nice sized ling and the gentleman who caught about a 10 pound cod was not in the pool for religious reasons.
Great day on the water and now looking forward to some quality sea bass fishing soon.

PS: A lot of the fish were caught on "the stick" before I switched to my spinning rod later in the day.
