Reel Class Fluke 8/25
« on: August 26, 2007, 05:22:34 AM »
Fished the Wiggle Rig tourney today with Mike Striffler, Doc and Jason Sokol, and Bill Tevlin.

Ran off the beach to fish some nasty bottom with bucktails and big strips, and big whole baits like smelts, peanuts, and snapper blues.

Water was discolored, the bottom was roiled pretty badly, and overall the big NE blow really put a hurting on the bottom and the life down there.  Fishing overall was very poor, we only boated about 20 fluke ALL DAY LONG, with 5 going in the box to 3#, plus a few seabass with one being a keeper.  Very tough day, incredibly slow fishing, only 6 fish in the box.  We weighed our 3 top fish in at Fisherman's Supply, which wound up being around 8#.  Not good!!!

Half-Limit Bill pulled us up from the doldrums with, yes, a half limit of fluke LOL.

As the saying goes, "it is what it is".  ;)

Had a good time, plenty of laughs and good natured ribbing.

I was happy to lose only 3 bucktails to the reef for the entire day  ;D

Oh and a special shout out and acknowledgement to the captain who told us we should try fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. No names needed, you know who you are.
