We left the dock at 0400 with my charter Steve and Cody and headed for the shark grounds. Set up on a very slow drift east of the Monster Ledge in dirty water. Had some bluefish which is always good to get fresh bait. Moved offshore a bit to the east side of the Mud Hole with a bit better drift but still o bites. Around 1:30 we had our first shark bite which was a Blue Shark which was safely released. About a half hour later after resetting our deep rod the real deal slammed the bait and took off. After a 30 minute fight we leadered a nice Thresher but she wasn't ready yet so after another 30 minute battle we had the fish subdued boat side which ended up being a good fish about 200-250 pound class.
All in all we had a great day and I am glad we stuck it out.
