Headed out of Manasquan Inlet late morning on Saturday with the girlie. Headed to the rubble piles on the Sea Girt Reef to try our hands at some fluke. The weather was hot and the ocean was good but, with a wind chop. We located our structure and out went the lines. The problem? The drift was way too fast, often times over 2.5mph! We couldn't hold bottom with 12oz. By this time the winds had started picking up but, still seemed doable.
Figuring the drift may be a little better in shallower water I jogged over to the Klondike. Within minutes of arrival at the Klondike we boated a short. Now the wind really started blowing and we began running into the same problems with holding bottom.
We quickly called it a day and headed back to the inlet which was actually a sloppy ride. Went to the marina's annual pool party and caught and nice big buzz.
At least we didn't get skunked.
