Gulp Bait
« on: July 10, 2012, 12:51:23 AM »
So..., over the years I have accumulated numerous packages of Gulp and a few containers of Gulp Alive.
One package is "Vintage Gulp" from when it first came out. Rectangle shape of white on one side, and blue on the other, that you would cut into shapes with scissors. :P

So my question is, do all the various shapes, colors, and tints of these baits use the same scent and therefore I can put them all in same container with the "alive juice"? 5hrug

What's your thoughts? Thanks pawle chrz

So I guess my question is is the scent the same for all of the various shapes, colors and variations of the baits.?

I put all mine in one container. I keep one on the boat and one with my surf gear. No negative effects. I was worried that colors would bleed like when keeping different colored fin-s together but hasn't happened. I throw my pork rinds in there too

Hmmmmm..... I always kept my gulps separate, HOWEVER they are all made of that material that I don't think will bleed. Like my thinking is this, if the colors were to run... I would think they would have run in the solution.   grtn

I sent Berkley an email and asked if the liquids in different containers had different scents and if it would make a difference if I put different baits in the same container. They told me the scents were all the same and putting them together would be fine, the only issue would be that some baits might bleed into the others.

I have mixed my gulp fresh and salt no bad effect yet.
I have noticed that in stores some of the liquid is darker, then others.
I think the color was bleeding off the sand worms and making the liquid dark.
BUT the jar looked older then the others on the shelf.

The liquid does turn darker with age, but it has no deleterious effect on the baits.

I've been mixing all the different colors, shapes and sizes for over 5 years now with no issues.  They will be fine. t^

Sorry.  What I meant to say was:
Even though the stuff gets darker, it don't do nothing bad to them things.

You can also try some of the less expensive baits and soak them in the gulp juice

Thanks for the input guys. t^

On my last trip the guy next to me had a container of all kinds of plastics in the gulp solution.
He was having some success with bright colored worms that were not a gulp product.

It might be the action of the lure that is the key to success more so than the scent.

But at least I know I can consolidate the accumulation with out any DELETERIATION ISSUES ;D ;D pawle

I just noticed today while on the boat that the hand full of tsunami sand eels that I threw in with my gulp have all now gone clear. They look like rainfish now

Wonder what would happen if you soaked stripes of leather in it? It would absorb a lot and wouldn't have trouble keeping it on the hook.  :headscra:

I should have clarified:
Even though the stuff gets darker, it don't do nothing bad to them GULPY things.   ;D

Seriously though, bleeding of colored baits made of plastisol (which is what most soft plastic baits are made from) is pretty common.  Colors like chartreuse, red and purple tend to bleed the most when mixed.  But, I have never had a problem with the colors on Gulp! baits bleeding or blending with each other.
