Night Fishing?
« on: July 30, 2012, 04:49:27 PM »
My week is shot with work and my business. I was thinking I could get out Friday night IF there was anything worth trying for.

I realize blues are the night fish of choice but, what about anything else?

I hate navigating in the dark, but I also was thinking of a trip.  Drive at Dusk, fish along the beach at night, sleep on the boat, then fluke fish in the morning.

Bunker off the beach means night time bluefish and nice size sharks.

I was thinking similar, Nick. I am sure there has to be some action on the reefs at night.

When I had my boat I loved taking it out at night. I would stay in the bay, but it was so quiet and peaceful. The only other traffic were working boats. I would go out alone and enjoy the spiritual side of the sport.A thermos of coffee and dead sticking for weaks.

Best buy I made. I got some PM's. I might head out on Sunday and anchor outside the inlet on the outgoing tide. Maybe get some sharks' blues or strippers.

Hey fellinger, send me a pm if you are looking for someone to come along. I do most of my fishing at night since family and work keep my days booked. I know the waters you fish in well. Come october I know some great back bay spots that are great at night for big shallow water bass. Right now I would either focus on weaks and schoolie bass in BB or sharks and rays right along the beach.

I sent you a PM FishOn. I was going to go out Sunday night but, it looks like the weather isn't going to cooperate. Buoy Weather is predicting 4' seas and small craft advisory. Not going to anchor at night near an inlet with that forecast.

Please feel free to give me a shout if you want to make it out some time.

Fred

Gotcha fellinger. Better to be safe than sorry especially at night. Do you have a spot light on board? Just curious since that is really helpful when running through the back bays to or from the ramp. Let me know when you plan a trip again  t^

I have a fairly poweful handheld spot light. I also have the safe route from dock to inlet programmed in the GPS and have radar.

When I used to fish my boat at night a lot all we ever used was a hand held light. My concern was always not so much the route, but what lies in the water in the route.....a log or something else too low profile for radar detection.
