Out to the ocean for the first time in weeks looking for our favorite flatfish, Tom and I started drifting near the candlesticks with the last of the incoming tide. Holding bottom with two oz. of lead we landed many shorts. Made a move to the green side of Sandy Hook Channel where we baled Sea Robins, Tom quickly turned them into strip bait and the Fluke bite turned on. Drifting all by ourselves out to #5 SHC the shorts were almost drop and reel with Tom getting two keeper Fluke to 20½". Made a move down to the Nude Beach area and on a long drift Tom picked up another keeper and finally I landed a keeper after three dry weeks. Glad to see plenty of fish around with the bay about empty of Fluke. No sign of any Bluefish. Pete
