I want to get out and do some crabbing and don't feel like making the ride from the Highlands.

Thanks

Chris'... just stay in/near the channels

Rumson is seasonal permit only and NFG anywhere less than 1/2 tide.

Unless you're paddling it's really not a bad ride from Highlands

Sayreville? Wow that's a very long ride

There is a ramp at Chris' River Plaza Marina,  OK if you stay in the marked channel and mind low tide.  I think DJ is using that one.

That Dan, I will check it out. t^

If I go, I will be going with the wife and I don't want to deal with the ramp at the Highlands and loose the truck. I have done it by myself, just don't fell like dealing with it. Plus it's a long no wake ride to walk the dog if we stay out awhile.

Here is the address:
Chris's River Plaza Marina, 483 W. Front Street, Red Bank, NJ, 07701
About a mile and a half from GSP 109'

Puts you in the upper Navesink.

Great place to launch--and rick can run down from there with NO problem---I used to live on the bank of the bridge that crossed over from 109 and put my 14 footer in 1 block from the house with the kids.

I realize that Mr. KAT.  You will notice my ramp suggestion to RICK for the NAVESINK was CHRIS'- like several others after me have suggested. I don't want someone thinking Sayreville is a good ramp to access the Navesink. It is not.

yep just used chris's for the second time this year.  i see only two main issues....low tide and bridge height...weather or not that is an issue for you and your boat needs to be decided...not for mine.

At low tide the ramp is kinda short so I can see longer trailers/boats maybe having an issue.  high tide absolutely no problem.  the dock to tie to is adequate not luxurious.  STAY IN THE CHANNEL heading out. it twists and turns.  The channel at low tide was coming up on my depthfinder at about 2-3 feet in spots.  Also would double check the bridge heights at high tide.  if you need it I think I have it on one of my maps.  just send me a pm.

FYI, from the ramp to the oceanic bridge obeying no wake signs and following the channel markers and doing 8-10 knots when I could i got there in about 25-thirty minutes...yes I have a slow boat thud

oh ya, twenty to put in.  just walk into the building that will be on your left looking at the ramp.  just have your twenty dollar bill in hand and your boat number.  Also, there is room for two trailers side by side but only one longer dock to tie to...only two boats can be tied up, maybe three at anyone time.  I have not run into an issue yet with this but I can see certain times on weekends it may slow/hold you up for a few minutes.  also be careful of all the boat rentals on the weekends, this past sunday you could basically walk across the river without hitting water, and some have no idea they are in the middle of the channel

rte 35 bridge is 12' at mean high tide, railroad tressel is 19' and the other bridge (no sure of the name :headscra:) that is the first one after departing Chris' ramp is showing 9' at mean high tide.  Like I said I could see it being a problem at high tide for some boats.  good luck.

You can crab of the bulkhead in Marine Park, Red Bank. Park your car in the municipal lot for $2-3.
As mentioned earlier Chris' landing on West Front St in Middletown as $20 to launch. Ramp was filled in a bit during last year's hurricane, but I guess they cleaned it out because I see it in regular use.
You can rent small boats at Red bank Marina and 16 ft boats with motors at Irwins Marine in Red Bank or Oceanic Marina in Rumson.
