Are you using sea talk?

I don't think the round plug is seatalk  its referred to as an NMEA connector..

At the bottom of the second photo is say's you need a different cable that is not supplied to hook up to sea talk.

Since I have a raymarine.. it says I can use the Nmea Cable..

That seatalk2 cable page is from my raymarine unit not the AP

I would give raymarine a call in the AM and ask wtf, they don't match up.

The additional cable may be the easy way. I just looked up the ff manual, and there are a couple extra plugs on that units control box that may be what you need.,,,be able to plug into the ff unit, with a dsub to connect to the ap's dsub,,, either way, give them a call tomorrow.

you could be hours trying to wire it up.

I can tell you that seatalk and nmea are totally different languages so they have different plugs.  As far as I know seatalk is pretty much a Raymarine standard.  Usually with NMEA you have a nmea out and a ground.  You then go into the unit and set the data length and speed.  Sounds like some apples and oranges being mixed at the moment.

Oboy.  From what the manual says. If its not a raymarine gps you must use sea talk.  If it is raymarine you can use sea talk or the
Nmea cable. This cable came with my c120.

I'm confused a bit myself on this one. I would figure it the other way. SeaTalk is Raymarine's buss for "talking" to each other I believe. If both units are SeaTalk compatible, I would go that route. I may have a cable down the shop. May is the word.  NMEA is NMEA. The standard which any thing should be able to talk to each other. Not sure from that diagram. As mentioned, a call to Ray should solve this.
