Yesterday I had Jeff and the Fair Haven fishers Carly, Vincent, and firsttimer Kylie aboard for some sun, fish, and fun. Rounding out the crew was Jeff's son Trevor "Yabba skew" in visiting from Clearwater FL.
Late start; they wanted to stay local, so we disregared the flatfish intel (thanks you know who, "genius") and head for the holes near the rockpile where we had them last. Trevor lands a big smooth doggie immediately that gave the girls something to scream about. Then we moved over to the Seguine Pt. area and drifted the bend for some more garbage fish. Kylie hauled in her first fish ever, a burpin' Lionel Ritchie that she insisted we release.
Jeff was chillin most of the ride, headed back to the KP1 for a few drifts where something big was lurking. Had a few sightings of "something" and a quick runoff on Carly's line that was lost. Kylie was "scared to catch a shark" so she was done. I hooked into the monster- we got a quick glimpse of something that looked to be about 4', which broke me off on the first flip of its tail. Woulda liked a betterlook at that puppy...
Nothing else much to report except massive pnuts again in the crick on the way in. Pulled out the lite rods and played c&r on 12" snappers under them for another 1/2hr. Nice trip; nothing much doin'...
