No Fish and Didn't Care
« on: September 04, 2012, 06:43:12 PM »
Had the chance to get out on the water Saturday..... So thought I would try fishing the area at the South end of the canal....This is a good place to fish in the early spring and late fall.

The end of Bay Ave in Point Pleasant has free parking and a nice little beach area and boat ramp...... Great for the kayak.

I spent 3 good hours floating around the back side of Bay Head......with all the boats running the west side.

Had a couple good hits using gulp....But I just got so into that zone of being alone on the water.....That fishing just didn't seem to matter much.

I must say it was just great being on the water and not a single fish was caught....Sometimes ya just need to be on the water to get your fix.

The areas I fish are the ones you said where a wast of time

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

I know I'm late reading this post but I do need a fix. Some day I would like to target the canal. Kayak the bottom end and maybe do some casting from the banks.

Well from this month on its only going to get better......With November and early December being the best.

Keep in mind all the bait in the back waters need to move out for the winter and they must swim through the canal to enter the ocean.

They had big Blue fish in the teens at night and some nice size bass on large rubber swim baits......keep in mind that this is all late night fishing.

The sod banks have some Bass along the West side of the bay.....small poppers seem to be working best..... The bait is starting to move from the back and those bass know just where to wait for and easy meal.

I'm going to try and get out Saturday night for a couple hours with the Yak......The little one has soccer on Sunday which I don't like to miss.....

Happy fishing  t^

You gotta be on the water to get your fix.

I know. When I'm on the ocean, especially on my own boat, I'm on top of the world. I get quiet when I'm out there, I don't talk much.
There's people who say it's a religion or it's being close to God. And there's those of us who can't explain it.
It is different. It is, how can I put it?
I can't say it, you know or you don't.
How do you folks feel?

There's nothing like it. Can anyone explain it? How do you feel when you're out there?

Nothing beats the backwaters during a calm night when your tossing your go-to plug, as soon as your eyes start to wander and you're casting becomes mindless...BAM!

well there are two kinds of fisherman.... The one who gets up at 9:00am and hits the beach by noon....makes a few casts then goes home and tells everyone he wasted his time.

The other is up at 4:00am hits the water by 4:30 and is home by noon.....Then tells everyone about the great day he had fishing.....When asked....How many fish he caught and his reply is NOTHING....Most will say you wasted your time...... Problem is....THEY JUST DONT GET IT.....
